Susan H. Abed, DDS, MS
I see myself as creating a legacy of smiles. Being a female orthodontist and a mom, I feel my compassion toward my patients enables me to develop a special rapport with them. I love to use my knowledge and skills to help my patients live healthier, happier lives. I enjoy getting to know each person who comes to visit, and watching their confidence grow as their teeth straighten. I consider dental education to be one of the most important parts of my job, because a beautiful smile can last a lifetime if you take good care of it!
Education and Continuing Education
Before becoming an orthodontist, I attained my DDS in 1989 from the University of Detroit, and 1991 I received my Masters Degree in Orthodontics. Since graduation, I have always kept up with the newest methods and technologies in order to ensure my patients the highest quality and most comfortable treatments possible. As part of my continuing education, I have taken extensive courses in Invisalign, because I want to use this popular treatment to its fullest capacity.
In the Practice
After over 20 years in practice, I love my job more than ever. I enjoy helping my patients and getting to know them personally. I want to have a practice that everyone enjoys coming to visit. Kids have fun with our free arcade, and they love our reward program with toys or gift certificates as prizes. The whole office is geared towards children, and our highest goal is to see our patients smile!
I have a wonderful team here, and consider myself lucky to work with such talented and compassionate people. Everyone who works here is a mom, and they all treat our patients like their own children. My staff is passionate about orthodontics and treating each patient with warmth and gentle care. They make our office one of a kind, and I love working with them every day.
Family and Community
My husband and I live in South Lyon, and we are the proud parents of three children. Our son Chad is a dentist in Chicago, Keith is studying engineering at MSU, and our daughter Ashley attends Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and Ballroom dancing. I have even won competitions in ballroom dance!
As an active member of our community, I am involved in many fundraising events at local schools and cities. I also sponsor local sports teams, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, and local police departments. We love to participate in the Relay for Life!
