Signing In: Patients should stop at the front desk computer to sign in upon arrival. Parents who want to discuss treatment with Dr. Abed should alert the receptionist and have a seat in the reception area. The assistant who is working with your child will let you know when they are seated and Dr. Abed will take that opportunity to talk with you. Length of Time: Appointments may range from 20 minutes to 2 hours. Frequency: During active treatment, appointments are usually made at 4-8 week intervals. If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, please contact our office well in advance so that a new time may be reserved for you. Broken Appointments: If you break an appointment it will extend your treatment time considerably and it may take weeks before another appointment is available. Effective January 1, 2000, an additional fee of $25.00 will be charged for broken appointments. Should an appointment be missed during after school hours, the replacement appointment will be scheduled with the first available opening. It is probable that this replacement appointment will be during school hours. School Appointments: Due to the nature of our practice, we are unable to schedule all our patients either before or after school and work. Some routine appointments will be scheduled during the day. An occasional visit that requires additional time for special treatment may be necessary. These appointments will NOT be scheduled during our BEFORE or AFTER SCHOOL hours. If we overcrowd these hours, it does not allow us the proper time for your adjustments. Arriving at an Unscheduled Time: Please call our office in advance should you want to be seen earlier than your scheduled appointment or for an emergency. We want to be sure that our office is open and able to treat you. EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS: Although emergencies are not frequent in our office, when one does arise, we attempt to render timely service. We have developed a program to allow us to correct your problem in the most efficient way. Each day, we reserve certain times that are open for emergency treatment. These times are NOT during our busiest hours when our manpower is being totally utilized. Should it be necessary to contact our office after business hours, you will be provided with a 24-hour pager number for Dr. Abed. Making your emergency appointment during our SCHEDULED EMERGENCY TIMES will allow us to devote our best energies to efficiently correcting your problem. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
